This is a European funded scheme where schools find partners in other European countries and share a common project, comparing and contrasting culture and lifestyles with the partner countries through different areas of the curriculum. This is very similar to the project you are proposing. I am looking for a class who would be interested in doing a project on sport, hobbies and healthy living. Would there be another class and teacher in the school who would be willing to do this? I can send more details of what we are proposing. There is money available for the teachers in the project to travel to their partner schools to plan the work. Our school is called Roseburn Primary and we are in Primary three. There are about 240 children in our school.
Our countryside is very pretty and has lots of different animals. Scotland is very cold, wet and windy, although it is sometimes sunny. It is winter here in Scotland. We have lots of hills in the countryside. One of the biggest hills in Edinburgh is called Arthur's Seat.
Our favourite sport is swimming and we all going swimming every Tuesday during school time. We like football, Highland dancing and rugby. Some of us go to our after school club after school.

Dear Everyone
We are all getting ready for Christmas at Roseburn Primary School. It is very exciting. We are having a party in our class. We have sent each other Christmas cards and have a Christmas tree in our classroom with lights. We are having a fun day with games tomorrow. Next week we are going to a panto called Merlin the Magnificent. Next week we go to church to sing carols. It is a lot of fun. I hope Santa brings you lots of presents.

I can't wait to tell the children this morning that mini is on his way - they are all really looking forward to meeting him! I am not sure how long it will take probably two weeks, we will let you know as soon as he arrives. Sorry we have been having problems with the children's email and I haven't
been able to open it - so we didn't know we had mail! The children are
really enjoying having mini and hopefully (if the email is working) we
aregoing to all send you an email today as it is our class' turn in our
computer suite. We are having a red nose day in school on Friday and we
wondered if Mini could stay for that and we will send him on to the next

Hello
Again the children tried to email you but again we couldn't acess their
account, so we can't read what you have sent us! Red nose day is for a
charity Comic relief - you can find out more about it on their web site
www.rednoseday.com At school we all paid money to wear red clothes,
have bad
hair and wear a special red nose. Today we had a fun day at school and
all the teachers put on a show to the comic relief song, we sang some
silly songs and made red nose day masks. We also ate red nose day cake.
Mini throughly enjoyed the day. Do you have anything like this? We are
really sad
that mini is leaving, we have put a few things in his bag. We also hope
to send you some pictures on Monday - we are going to ask an assistant
at the school to help us.
We will now send Mini on his way to Iceland

I am ashamed about not emailing to you about our Christmas. Many people
go to church on xmas evening (Time 18:00)
(24.december). The stores are closed from 12:00 that day and some of them
don't open again until 27. dec. But the
superstore open 26. December.
Some people start the Christmas 18:00 at home with dinner and after the
dinner everybody go to the Christmas tree and
open the gifts. And we have lot of family party at this time.
The day before xmas we did have (In "old" days) a special fish,
it stinks its fermented Skate (and the fish have very strong taste). The
young people don't like this kind of fish, but the older people have sometimes
a party -skate party. The dinner we have on xmas Eve is smoked lamb or
smoked pig, or just no
smoked lamb, pig. Someone have birds like ptarmigan or turkey. It's not
allowed to hunt ptarmigan now this year.
Often it is snow outside sometimes verywindy, but this year was no snow
and very nice whether. We can't go skiing
this year in Reykjavik.
We have in the school have 14 days holiday from 21. December in the to
6. January, but the teachers have to come
back to school 3.Janúary.
That's the things that I remember now.

We are 25 children in
first class in Korpuskóli and it is
primaryschool.There are 170 students in the school.
Our nationalflag is blue with red and white cross. The blue means water
and the ocean. The white means the snow and the glacier. And the read
color means the volcano. Today it is snowing and Mini is happy and enjoy
to be in the snow.

I have got all the mail from you, (I think).If you could send me at the new

The children want to know how old Mini is and who is his mamma (mother)
They always remeber to have him with them evry where.
What kind of animals do live in Iceland? We have in the farms, chikens,
pigs, cows, sheep, horses cats and dogs. Wild animals are reandear, fox,
mink and of cores birds.
Our school is werry spesial he was once a farm verry big farm, the
children will tell you more about it tomorrow.
Are the houses made of cement or wood? Most of the houses are made of
cement, some are of wood and corrugated iron.
What do the students do in their spare time? They go to the zoo, and
pley outside of there houses, cycle, play football.
For how long do you stay at school each day? We start 8:15 and are until
13:35.
Do you have long summervacation? We start 28. águst and fhinis

months vacation.The children will tell you more to

What do you do in your free time?
We like to co skating, horseriding, play whit pats like rabit, cat or
dog.
We like to go to our grandparents in the country. Helga, Elísa,
Rakel,
Sigga, Sigursteinn,
We like to go swim, swing, sport, golf and bysikle. Simon, Magnús,
Melkorka, Ragnar.
What we like to have for lunce!
We like Spagetti bolones, Pitzza, Chiken, fish, cacaosupe, pancakes,
lamb
meat, cake, pluck and porridge of groats.
Our capital is Reykjavík and we live there. In Reykjavík
live 112.490
people and in all Ísland lives 288.201 people
Do you where classdresses?
No we dont do that in Ísland, but do you?
Our school is werry old. He was wonse the biggest farm-house in Ísland
there where lott of cows. The old cookingmachine is still in the school
but we dont use it. The building is wonderful...
It is no school like this one. Usualy the They wil layter build a school
in our new place in Reykjavík the place we live in is calld Grafarvogur.
By side of the school is golfcourt. We have to walk to the athelic place
it is werry big place, it is the biggest in Ísland.
Now the snow is gone and Mini likes to sea the grass and the stones.
We
have not had lot of snow this winter, it is werry litle snow this year.
Do we have polar bear in Ísland. No we dont have eny but sumtimes
they
come whit ice-floe.
To day we where teaching our monkey Lulli new letter, Þ,þ
in english tehy
say th in stead of þ. Mini did like to meat Lulla and lern this
new
letter. So didd we go to swimingclass and danceclasse. Hopefully we can
send you picture of Mini and Lúlla when tey where learning to gether.
To morrow we will lern mathematic and we hope to have time to sned more
mail.
